A New Chapter: Welcome to Amy Walker Hair
I’ve started and restarted this blog post about ten times now, because honestly, I don’t quite know where to begin. So I think I’ll just say it plainly. I’m opening my own salon. Amy Walker Hair is opening its doors in early May, right here in the Rugby and Kilsby area, and I still can’t quite believe I get to write those words.
A dream I’ve had for a very long time
If you’ve been in my chair over the last few years, you’ve probably heard me talk about this at some point, usually somewhere between the colour going on and the rinse! Having my own salon has been the plan in the back of my mind since I first picked up a pair of scissors. It’s the kind of dream you carry around quietly, wondering if and when it might actually happen.
I’ve loved renting a chair. It’s taught me so much, and I’ve met some of the most wonderful clients along the way, many of you reading this! But deep down I always knew I wanted a space that felt like mine. Somewhere I could pour my personality into, create the atmosphere I’d always pictured, and really look after my clients from the moment they walk through the door to the moment they leave.
When the right opportunity appears, you say yes
The opportunity to open up locally came along almost out of nowhere, and it felt like one of those moments where the universe gently nudges you and says “go on then.” It’s close to home, close to so many of my existing clients, and in an area I genuinely love. I couldn’t turn it down. I didn’t want to.
There have been a lot of late nights recently, picking paint colours, sourcing mirrors, triple-checking the booking system (hello, if you’re reading this on my new website, and thanks to my amazing husband for building it!), and generally running around in a very happy kind of panic. It’s been busy and a little bit terrifying, but mostly it’s been exciting in a way I haven’t felt in a long time.
What this means for you
For my lovely existing clients, nothing is changing about the care you get from me, just the setting it happens in. For anyone new who’s been thinking about booking, I’d absolutely love to welcome you in. Expect good chat, great coffee, good music and hair you feel brilliant about.
I’ll be sharing plenty of behind-the-scenes bits over the coming weeks, the fit-out, the finishing touches, and probably a few “is this actually happening?” moments too. If you’d like to follow along, come and find me on social media. And when the doors open in early May, I’d love nothing more than to see you in the chair!
Thank you, truly, for being part of this. Here’s to the next chapter.
Amy x
